Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) considers clients' strengths and resources to
create positive change. It is brief and goal-oriented.
It focuses on the clients’:

 Present situation and future goals
 Health and not the problem,
 Strengths and not weaknesses or deficits.

 Skills, resources, and coping abilities that support attaining future goals.
 It assists clients in exploring their current position and pondering possible
solutions rather than dwelling on past problems.

During SFBT sessions, the clients describe what they want to happen in their lives
(solutions) and explore how they will use self-guided tools to solve their problems. At
TGC, SFBT counsellors facilitate the client's session and empower them from their
perspective. Doing so increases the client's capacity to believe that positive changes
are possible.
